Product Uses Methyl ethyl ketone is used in large quantities as a solvent, especially in polyvinyl chloride based coatings and films. It is used in coatings for wooden furniture refinishes, auto refinishes, and magnetic tape, and as an extraction solvent in lubricating oil dewaxing. It is a component of adhesives and printing inks. In smaller amounts MEK is used as a raw material for other chemicals, such as MEK peroxide.
